How do I input Bi-Metal Sample data into the attributes file?

In this article, we will show you how to enter Bi-Metal Sample data into the attributes file correctly, for successful batch upload

💡  Important:  If an item contains two different types of precious metal, we call this metal type Bi-Metal.

Please read the below guidelines before inputting data into the attributes file:

Step 1. Go to the 'PRODUCT INFO' tab on the Attributes file:

1.1  Column L: 'METAL 1 TYPE'

Select the main (primary) metal type from the drop down list.

Example: If your product contains 80% silver and 20% gold, then your 'primary' metal = silver

Your 'primary' metal should be added to column L (in this example you would select silver from the drop down in column L)

1.2 Column M: 'METAL 2 TYPE'

Select the 'secondary' metal type from the drop down list.

Example: If your product contains 80% silver and 20% gold, then your 'secondary' metal = gold

Your 'secondary' metal should be added to column M (in this example you would select gold from the drop down in column M)

1.3 Column N: 'METAL 2 TITLE'

Metal title for 'secondary' metal for Bi-Metal (Bonded) Samples - select the 'metal title' from the drop down list.

1.4 Column O: 'METAL 2 LOSS'

Metal Loss for secondary metal for Bi-Metal (Bonded) Samples - enter the number of your percentage loss (but DO NOT add the % symbol)

Example: If your loss = 10%, then enter '10'

1.5 Column P: 'SELL METHOD'

Select your sell method from the drop down list, remember that for Bi-Metal or Bonded Samples you can only choose 'labour per piece' or 'labour per gram' sell method.

1.6. Input data in Column Q through AJ as you would for a non Bi-Metal Sample.

Step 2. Continue to input information in tabs - these tabs and the data entered are not affected by Bi-Metal:

  • CHAIN AND FINDINGS
  • FINISH TYPE
  • PLATING
  • STONE

Step 3. Go to the 'VARIANTS' tab on the Attributes file:

3.1.  Column D: 'VT1 METAL TITLE'

Select the main (primary) metal title of your Sample from the drop down.

3.2. Column E: 'VT1 LOSS METHOD'

Select the loss method of the main (primary) metal from the drop down.

Choose either 'enter as %' OR 'enter metal title inc loss'.

3.3. Input primary metal loss in Column F or Column G depending on your selected method in Column E.

Example: If your primary metal is silver 925, metal loss = 10%

3.3.1 If you choose 'enter as %' in Column E, then enter '10' in column G.

Important - only enter the numerical digits, DO NOT enter the % symbol

3-1

3.3.2 If you choose 'enter metal title inc loss' in Column E, then enter '1027.78' in column F.

3.4. Input data in Column J through M as you would for a non Bi-Metal Sample.

3.5. Column P: 'SIZE 1 NET WEIGHT'

Important - this is the total net weight of both metal types.

3.6. Column Q: 'SIZE 1 SECONDARY METAL NET WEIGHT'

Enter the metal net weight of the secondary metal type for the size 1 (default size).

Important - this is the total net weight of ONLY the secondary metal type.

3.7. Column R: 'SIZE 1 GROSS WEIGHT'

Enter the gross weight of the whole finished piece for the size 1 (default size).
Important - this is the gross weight of the finished piece meaning it includes any Stones.

3.8. Column W: 'SIZE 1 SIZE (mm)'

Enter the size 1 (default size) in mm according to the measurement type selected in column J 'VT1 UNIT OF MEASURE'.
Important - Ring sizes are entered in mm - to find the correct mm size please use the Atelier size guide chart (click here to view).

3.9. Column X: 'SIZE 1 QUOTED PRICE'

Enter your price for size 1 (default size) in column X.
This selling price is based on sell methods: labour per piece and/or labour per gram which includes stone costs, findings costs, etc.
Important: This is all costs except the metal cost.

Tip: To check your final Sample price go to: Sales > Showroom and view your Sample

Here you can set a metal fix of your choice in Costing Settings and the system will calculate the total piece price including metal for you.

3.10. Once you complete all information, the size, weights and price will be shown in Column N: 'VT1 OPTIONS' and Column O: 'SIZE 1 CONCATENATOR' automatically as below.

Important: The data is displayed with comma separated values, which is required for the data upload.

3.11. You can continue to input data for other sizes if you have variant sizes for that Sample by repeating Steps 3.5 through 3.9 for size 2 and so on.

Step 4. Go to the 'EXCLUSIVITY' tab on the Attributes file:

4.1. Input your exclusivity information: exclusive company, exclusive variants and exclusive markets as you would for a non Bi-Metal Sample.

Step 5. Go to the 'OUTPUT FOR CSV' tab on the Attributes file:

5.1. Here you will see the complete data set, which has automatically pulled through from your data entry. This tab is formatted in Sample upload format and is ready to proceed to Sample batch upload.
