Editing a Product on Linesheet

This article explains how to edit products in your assortment using including cost, packaging, margins and discounts.

Edit a Single Product

To edit a product, simply click on the edit pencil on the far left of the row. If your assortment contains multiple sizes you can edit a single size directly from the size row, or you can edit all sizes via the master row:

You will now see the edit modal on the right-hand side of your page:

Navigating Sections Inside The Modal

The modal is split into several subsections to make it easy to navigate and work with the detail.

Click on a tab to view each subsection:

💡 Additional Guidance:
For detailed information on each feature inside the edit modal look for the info_fill icon at the top right-hand side of your Linesheet page to access our guides.

SKU

The SKU tab houses all of the product's SKU information, statuses and Merchandising Hierarchy (Enterprise only). You can add your SKU code(s), view Resource history and update the status of your product within this tab.

💡 SKU Status:
While a sample is in my samples its status is Shortlisted. When you convert it to a product it becomes Selected. When it has passed sign off you should change it to  Confirmed

Detail

Within the Detail tab, you can add Labels to group your products, assign a Cost Master (to products that have more than one size) and edit the product’s description.

This is also where you can view product details such as Supplier, Material, Metal Title, metal or stone weights.

Costing

From the Costing Tab, you can calculate your landed cost at your desired Metal Price by adding Shipping, Duty and other costs.

Metal Lock

Choose between a live daily metal lock (from London Bullion Market Association, afternoon fix) or a locked value of your choice.

💡 Tip:
Use the live metal lock in combination with Maintain Sales Price to see your real margin every day without lifting a finger

Metal Price

This is the current metal lock that you want to drive your FOB Cost.

Metal Buffer

Only available if you use Live Metal Lock, this feature allows you to add a % buffer to the metal fix to protect you from sudden commodity changes.

FoB Cost

This Freight on Board or Ex-Factory cost is calculated by adjusting the Supplier Quote to your current metal lock and is always in the Supplier Quote Currency.

Calculated Cost

This is the FOB Cost converted into your company Linesheet currency. We use the live currency rate unless your Buying Manager specifies a fixed currency exchange rate in Configuration

Shipping Duty

This is a % value that is added to your Calculated Cost using a multiply by 1+shipping% formula.

Miscellaneous

This is a % value that is added to your Calculated Cost and Shipping using a multiply by (CalculatedCost+shipping) * 1+duty% formula.

Landed Cost Buffer

This is a % buffer value to can apply to your entire cost to build in some additional protection. It will be added as a function of (CalculatedCost+shipping+duty+miscealleous) multiplied by 1+LandedCostBuffer%.

💡 Tip:
Your Landed Cost Buffer will compound any Metal Buffer if both are active.

Landed Cost

This is the summary of all of the costs above, representing the landed cost of your product to reach your facility door.

Pricing

Pricing is where you can control all of your sales data.

The Maintain Sales Price tool can be used to ensure that your Retail Price does not change.
When the toggle is switched to On, the Linesheet will fix your Retail Price and adapt your margin to account for cost increases or currency, and metal, fluctuations.

💡  Tip:
Specify your minimum margin for the product, and a warning will appear if the margin dips under your specified amount.

Margin
Margin is used to calculate your retail price and represents the % total margin being applied to your product. If you change your margin, and you do not have your Maintain Retail Price switched on, your Retail Price will change.

⚠️Warning:
The margin does not correspond to markup. For example, if your Landed Cost is $10, a 50% Margin will trigger a $20 Retail Price, which is a 100% markup.

Sales Tax

Sales Tax is a fee payable to your government or federal authorities on the total invoice value.
Sales Tax is added after Margin. It affects your Retail Price but will not affect your Margin.

💡 Tip:
To add Sales Tax to multiple products at once, use the Sales Tax option within batch actions.

Retail Price
Your product’s Retail Price is calculated as Margin plus Sales Tax.

Retail Price can also work backwards; you can input your desired Retail Price in the field and your Margin will update accordingly.

💡 Important:
Retail Price is displayed in your Home Currency. To display your Retail Price in additional currencies, ask your Account Administrator to update your company’s Sell Currencies.

Target Retail Price
Use this tool to find out what your Target FOB Cost should be in order to reach a certain Target Retail Price.

Input your Target Retail Price and the Linesheet will calculate your Target FOB Cost. You can then negotiate this cost with your supplier.

💡 Important:
Only Account Administrators or Buying Team Managers can activate or deactivate this tool.

Target FOB
This is a system calculated cost based on your target retail price. You can use this to help negotiate with your suppliers.

Currencies
Your Retail Price can be displayed in additional currencies based on exchange rates that your Account Administrator or Buying Team Manager have specified.

💡 Important:
If you need additional currencies that are not listed in this edit panel, reach out to your Account Administrator to update your company’s Sell Currencies.

Discounts
Use up to three discounts to view how your product’s Calculated Margin and Retail Price will be affected during sales or promotions.

💡 Important:
Only you as Account Administrator or Buying Team Manager can configure these discounts within the Linesheet Configuration, but users can still change the discount percentage value to see how prices will react.

Identifying Issues Inside The Tabs

In some cases, areas that need your attention can be spread across multiple tabs. To identify which tab has an alert, look for the tabs with a red bar at the top.

Closing The Modal

Once you have finished reading or editing the information you can either click Save to save changes and close the drawer or Cancel to close the drawer without saving any changes.

💡  Saving All Tabs:
You can navigate between, and edit the content of the drawer's inner tabs without having to save each time. When you're done click Save and all changes across all tabs will be saved.
